Celebrate Diversity There was a bit of a dilemma this year, I was running the risk of missing the final. So as a precaution I've been watching the semi-finals with my grand final scorecard. I have to wonder about the choice to not have any totty presenting. The second semi where they play the piccolo and the accordion... well... what can I say? But the group were amazing... at this point I haven't seen the Ukrainian entry, but I'd have voted for this lot. And they did my favourite song, Fairytale. As a general observation, there are a lot of teeth this year. Finalists Armenia - Fly With Me Please stop the jumpy camera angles! Another perfectly fine song, but that's all I can really say about it... apart from I would like a pair of her trousers. But not spectacular. Australia - Don't Come Easy X-Factor winner. Should be good. They love treadmills this year! He must be talented and he hasn't missed a beat, but it's not a showstopper. Oh no...

Those of you who know me know that I love Eurovision... see last year's post for the proof . It's a cheesy delight of awkward hosts and lots of performers being interviewed who don't fully understand what's going on. But truly, my favourite part is the presenter. Make sure you have a notepad and pen handy... maybe that's just me! Pre-list the countries in order of performance. You want to leave room for a comment on the best and worst bits, the most ridiculous comment from Graham and your score out of ten. With scoring, remember to pace yourself! I try a...

Euromania

So last night the European wing of Twitter went into overdrive. Eurovision is an institution. As a family we get together, grab a take away and then shout at the screen and do our own in-house voting. So here's a bit of a recap from our household discussions. Ukraine > Am I the only one waiting for a rolling accident with that giant hamster wheel? Bit breathy 6/10 Belarus > Song entitles Cheesecake. Annoying catchy with Jedward hair. 7/10 Azerbaijan > Subtitles for the interpretive trapeze dancing would be good. 6/10 Iceland > Band dressed like a hoard of teletubbies with fantastic facial hair. Fantastic 10/10 Norway > Not really Eurovision, bit "just-broken-up-moody". 7/10 Romania > Avicii mixed with the Black Eyed Peas. 8/10 Armenia > Comedian turned singer. Too much dull surrounding the one good bit. 6/10 Montenegro > Bit of Winter Olympic skating round the stage. His teeth were too off putting to listen. 5/10 Poland > Basically por...
