Food Of Love

Image
I love food. I love cooking. I love finding new recipes. I hate washing up. The eternal dilemma of the housework-shy, cook something fantastic or have someone else cook you something fantastic? Of course, short of winning the lottery I'm not going to get to try eating in every restaurant I would like. Slowly but surely, I'm finding some great places for food, so I thought I'd share a few with you along with some of my favourite memories. So remember everyone... eat all the food! Bills, lots of locations These industrial country kitchen style restaurants make delicious food, I can highly recommend the halloumi burger (with chipotle mayo, not cumin yoghurt). But the main dishes aren't the reason this restaurant is making it onto the list... it's one dessert. Lemon Meringue Cheesecake with poppy seed meringue. Two of my favourite things in one. It comes served in what looks like a dainty glass with a mound of meringue on the top... it tastes heavenly and s...

2014 A Year In Focus

I was out chatting with a friend yesterday and we were contemplating our year in focus. 2014 kind of went past in a blur. I had to go through my social media to work out what had happened through most of the year. So here it is... my 2014. I went to see La Boheme at the Royal Albert Hall in March. We were up in the nose bleed seats but when we got there we got upgraded to fantastic ones down on the floor. I hadn't seen an opera before, I'm so glad we went. If I wasn't so old and decrepit then I probably would have enjoyed it more! We were trying to come up with a day trip somewhere and had been thinking Paris, but it was actually cheaper to go to Geneva. It was lovely strolling down the river, it was definitely something random to throw in to the year. Also in June there was a family trip...

Cornish Craving

Image
So I've hit Cornwall, walked the sea front and filled my lungs with sea air. I've already got the souvenirs to take home with me, might as well get that out of the way now... it'll either mean i have them to take home or eat when I get peckish! It only took me a couple of hours of being local to get the essentials... There was of course a stop off in the arcade to play on the 2p machines, we have so far discovered the wonders of winning tickets and the possible lousy prizes we can exchange them for. All of which adds to the traditional fun of a seaside holiday. We went to our favourite restaurant for dinner, The Meadery. It has been open for 50 years this year and Mum and Dad have been coming here for nearly 40 of them. It's always a fun atmosphere as it's set out like a medieval banquet hall but the thing that really sets it apart is the fact that people still recognise us. A waitress came over to chat and there was some reminiscing... some things mak...
