Things I Learnt From "Tomb Of The Dragon Empire"

I love movies. I love TV. I also love ridiculous things. Especially if they happen in the aforementioned programming. Watching "Tomb Of The Dragon Empire" the other day there were three things I wondered about.

If you have something that is deadly to humanity and should never be read, why would you keep a hard copy "hidden" somewhere? This seems awfully reckless when the fate of humanity is at stake. It's not like there's an easy way to encode it. There's always someone who can read a language or break an encryption, and they're usually easily kidnappable nerds with a weak will for keeping that knowledge under wraps.

The next thing seemed a bit of an obvious one, but... according to this film I'm wrong! If someone is shooting at you in a direct line you'll want to run in a straight line. There was silly little me thinking that the most sensible thing would be to step out of the path of the bullets!

My last little nit-pick... If your parents brought ancient powers back to life... Even if they destroyed them... It might be best to have a better ambition than to follow in their footsteps. Just FYI.

Fox Investigates: A Whiff Of Mystery by Adam Frost

I had so much choice with this one, I got a digital proof from NetGalley and a physical copy from Stripes direct. I'm glad I did get both, because this is one of the times where print stomps all over digital, but we'll come to that in a bit. If we play judge a book by it's cover you get debonair fox in Venice solving crime, some sort of cross between James Bond and Sherlock Holmes... Actually, by the end of the book that wasn't far off what I thought of Wily, there's maybe just a hint of Inspector Clouseau. To the story... Wily Fox is hired to help protect the next big scent in the perfume world after the creator has a mysterious break in. Wily and his suspects attend the unveiling of Smellissino, but they are incapacitated when the beautiful smelling perfume is swapped for something much more pungent. So You've Seen Deadpool...

... and the superhero movie will never be the same again. Before seeing the movie I had never come across Deadpool. He was sneakily hiding behind the other characters flipping bunny ears and running away giggling. We of course saw Wade Wilson in the Wolverine origin film but in a more serious (yet still with a tinge of humour) role. He was no indication of what to expect. Created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, Wade Winston Wilson AKA Deadpool started life as a supervillain before the unstable mercenary became firmly set as everyone's favourite anti-hero.
