Vision In Blue

I went to London to see the queen... well, the queen of children's fiction, J.K. Rowling. The British Library opened their Harry Potter A History Of Magic exhibition last month, and today on Sirius Black's birthday, I went to see it. Muggles wouldn't think anything of it, but when you enter the exhibition you have your bag search by a group of wizards... how did I know this? Well the "security guards" have wands with lights on the end to poke through your bags... I mean, I didn't hear them say lumos, but you've got to imagine that they're so good at it that they don't need to say it out loud anymore. Look up One of the things I like to remember is to always look up. If you don't look up while you're in the gallery then you're going to miss something quite magical. *Massive spoilers everywhere, sorry, not sorry*     I have always been a Harry Potter fan, but I definitely can't claim I'm a Potterhead... I've read the books, I've seen the films, I listened to the audiobooks... but I have too many other things going on to dedicate such a large portion of my spare time to HP like a lot of people on the internet have. I think I've said before that when I watch new films, I like to watch them with my brain switched off... I like to enjoy them as a standalone project (whether they are or not), and not pick them apart or look for the problems. These things were created for us to enjoy, we really should try doing that first. And I do, the first time, then I watch it again, almost certainly with a notepad and pen at the ready. In my last post I said I was going to attempt to see half of my must see movies of the year, so it makes sense to share them with you. I'm sure you'll be screaming at me for missing something out... but that's the beauty of making your own list, on your own blog... it doesn't have to appeal to everyone! So here are my 31 picks for the year, some must see ones and some I feel like I need to see even though I'm not convinced they'll be that good. Then I'll begin. Once upon a time there was a woman who loved to read. She had books everywhere, as far as the eye could see, until one sad day when she moved. All her beautiful books were packed into brown boxes and sealed up to be transported across the country. The woman moved to a small flat with nowhere to put up shelves so her books stayed in their brown boxes and were hidden under her bed until the magical day she could bring them out. The End. Unfortunately for me that's no fairy tale. Those boxes are under my bed and the only books I have out are cook books and the few I've brought since moving in. I just haven't been in the mood to read, lucky I supposed as they're stuck under my bed. Instead of the usual 10 minute round trip commute I now commute for over an hour every day.
